BEBOBLAST 2.0: The final blast!


Happy new year, everyone!

It's been three months since the end of ANTONJAM 3, and as such, the release of BEBOBLAST! While we do admit the final product left a lot  to be desired, we're all still very proud of the outcome and its 4th place ranking in the jam results! On behalf of everyone involved with BEBOBLAST's development, I thank you for your support!

Now, we would like to release BEBOBLAST 2.0, which adds in some new content, as well as fixes some preexisting content! Here are the patch notes:

  • Added a new type of terrain that was originally unused: the bomb block! This block appears see-through at first, but becomes opaque when you're carrying or riding the bomb.
  • Added a new enemy: the Trashtalker! They won't directly approach you, but if you approach it, it jumps in the air and spits trash at you!
    • Likewise, we have also added the original creator of the Trashtalker, Randtastik, to the game's credits.
  • Added a final score tally to the "Thanks for playing" section of the credits.
  • The music that plays during the credits now fades out during the "Thanks for playing" section.
  • Modified the roof and ground levels to touch up on or completely change certain sections of said levels, and modified the tutorial to include the Trashtalker.
  • The explosions seen after completing the tutorial and roof levels are now included in the ground level after defeating Hard Hat Hudson.
  • Fixed a glitch where you could pause the game on the main menu after completing all three levels.

With the release of BEBOBLAST 2.0, we are now fully content with the current state of the game, and as such, this will be the final update the game will receive. Before this devlog comes to a close, though, our project lead would like to share a message with you!

I hope you all enjoy the update. I'm still a bit disappointed we weren't able to do more with the game. Admittingly, it was a bit my fault. Real life factors dragging me down distracted me a lot from keeping the team in check with what they needed to work on. All of them did great, though; huge thanks to Beta Parappa and defnotreal, this could not have happened without them with how huge of a help they were, and ToasterPower777 and illdie certainly earned their spot on the team as well with their help.
